The University of Texas at Dallas' Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science announced Monday that it has added 12 tenured or tenure-track professors.
The professors span a variety of disciplines and research backgrounds, such as cancer research, medical imaging, energy systems, and other specialties, though many will be teaching mechanical engineering and bioengineering.
Dr. Reza Moheimani, whom school officials called "an expert in nanotechnology," will take on the responsibilities of the James Von Ehr Distinguished Chair in Science and Technology, while bioengineering professor Dr. Joseph Pancrazio will be associate provost.
“We recognize that innovation can be fostered by working across boundaries, and our programs support this kind of creativity,” Dr. Mark W. Spong,
dean of the Jonsson School, said. “Our new faculty members will add to this tradition as we continue to grow in numbers and stature.”
The new additions raise the school's faculty body to 150 members. In addition to their new positions, the new faculty will also enjoy a 220,000-square-foot bioengineering and science facility that will open in the spring to provide research and office space.
