Princeton University chemistry students will have access to cutting-edge synthetic chemistry research from Bristol-Myers Squibb after the university and the drug company agreed Tuesday to a research partnership.
Bristol-Myers Squibb is a biopharamceutical company with headquarters less than a half-mile from the Princeton campus.
“We are very excited about working with Bristol-Myers Squibb and its scientists as it will empower the faculty in the Department of Chemistry at Princeton who are involved in the collaboration to do out-of-the-box research,” Pablo Debenedetti, dean for Research at Princeton University, said.
The agreement includes the establishment of a research facility called the Center for Molecular Synthesis. In addition to providing a direct link between Princeton lab research and a major player in the pharmaceutical industry, the center will host fellowships that pair researchers with a mentor from Bristol-Myers Squib to offer industrial chemistry perspective to the fellows' research.
