Forbes school concludes women's summit with final video

The Forbes School of Business at Ashford University has released the last in a series of videos from this year's Forbes Women's Summit.

The video, titled "Equality & Diversity," interviews prominent female executives about the importance of diversity in the workplace and the difficultly of creating equality. It also provides suggestions to employers.

The video features Robert Wood Johnson Foundation President and CEO Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, Digital Citizen Fund CEO Roya Mahboob, Declara founder Ramona Pierson, and Harlem School of the Arts Presidentand CEO Yvette Campbell.

“We couldn’t be a great company if we didn’t have diversity of thinking and diversity of ideas,” Pierson said. “We have to give voice to those diverse ideas.”

The summit was held in June in New York City to bring more than 250 leaders from business, media and other industries to one place to discuss the details of cultivating and advocating for female leadership, which Ashford officials said is a good influence on overall business.

“Diversity in talent can bring innovative ideas into the workplace,” program chair Karen Ivy said. “Innovative ideas can then lead to new products, new services, an expanded customer base, and increased profit.”

Equality & Diversity caps a month-long release of other segments pieced together from the summit, including “Creating Change,” Mentorship & Support,” “Business Acumen,” and “Finding Your Passion."
