William Staggers has been named assistant director of development for Mississippi State University’s (MSU) Extension Service and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Staggers, a native of Starkville, received a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the university’s College of Education in 2010. After graduation, he began work in Quitman as a physical science teacher and football coach before returning to Starkville.

Following a stint at Shelter Insurance, where he gained experience in customer service, financial reporting and development, Staggers returned to his alma mater. He first worked in MSU’s Department of Procurement and Contracts as an accounts payable specialist.

In his new role in development, Staggers will help the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences’ fundraising efforts.

“We are proud to welcome Will to our fundraising team and believe that his proven leadership and dedication to customer service will be beneficial to his involvement with alumni and philanthropy on behalf of the university,” Jack McCarty, executive director of development for the MSU Foundation, said.

Staggers’ responsibilities will also include bolstering support for Infinite Impact, an ongoing capital campaign at MSU.
