Boise State holds winter commencement

Boise State recently held its winter commencement ceremony, honoring 2016 graduates and alumnus Milford Terrell, a former Idaho State Board of Education trustee.

Boise State confers almost half of all public Idaho’s bachelor’s degrees every year. During this winter’s commencement, 1,743 students received degrees and certificates, including four doctoral degrees. More than 300 students graduated with honors – 202 cum laude, 98 magna cum laude and 19 summa cum laude.

Terrell encouraged these graduates to be bold as they face their futures. Terrell himself received the Silver Medallion, the university’s highest honor for his extensive vocal advocacy of Boise State and his time with the Idaho State Board of Education.

Terrell has also spent time as the president of the Bronco Athletic Association and chairman of the Humanitarian Bowl. He was a member of the Bronco Athletic Association Coaches Club and the Boise State University Foundation board. In all, he dedicated 30 years of his life to volunteer work.

“The incredible growth in graduate programming we’ve had here at Boise State University wouldn’t have happened without Milford at the helm,” Boise State President Bob Kustra said.
