Aurora University trainer recognized for community service

Aurora University (AU) Assistant Athletic Director Nicki Pieart, the head athletic trainer for the athletic department, was awarded the John McKee Citizenship Award this year for her excellent work in the community.

Throughout her tenure at the university, Pieart has worked with the athletic teams to coordinate service projects in the community. She has also been a strong leader on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

“I am honored and humbled by this award, and while grateful for the recognition, I am even more grateful for the volunteer opportunities I have been involved in at AU,” Pieart said. “I get tremendous satisfaction from serving the broader community and seeing student-athletes grow from their service experiences.”

The John McKee Citizenship award, established in 2009 by longtime Aurora University trustee John F. McKee, is presented to a member of the university community who demonstrates outstanding citizenship and works in the community outside of one's normal job description.
