South Dakota alum Boyens accepts Sanford International Clinics post

Scott Boyens, an alumnus of the University of South Dakota School of Medicine, was recently named chief medical officer for Sanford International Clinics.

Boyen will manage medical care for both national and global Sanford International Clinics locations, working to ensure the implementation of the company's clinical models at each site. He will replace Pat O’Brien, who has retired.

Boyens, a family medical physician with Sanford since 1998, received his bachelor’s degree from Augustana University. He is board certified in family medicine.

Sanford International Clinics, which started in 2006 to build clinics in the country and around the world in areas that lack good primary care services, currently has three sites in America in addition to sites in China and Africa.

The University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine from which Boyens graduated is recognized nationally for its achievements, including its award-winning curriculum and the way it prepares students for success in all fields of medicine.
