The University of Tampa announced in December that it has earned regional reaccreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) for a 10-year term, the longest term available.

The SACSCOC reviews all of the schools in the region, providing quality control for every aspect of the Universities. The University of Tampa provided the commission with a self-study report. The commission’s decision to grant the University reaccreditation was based on this report and a three-day visit to the campus.

The university developed a Quality Enhancement Plan that focuses on “Learning by Doing” as part of the accreditation, which is an outcomes assessment that was completed over multiple years. Part of the assessment covered demonstrations of student learning, providing the best practices to provide education and being accountable in all functioning areas.

In addition to certifying the schools provide quality academics, the process of earning a regional reaccreditation is peer-based, which holds universities accountable to the government and the students.
