More than 50 Mississippi State University administrators met Jan. 29 to check in on the school's search for a new provost and executive vice president.
The vacancy was created by Jerry Gilbert, who left his post to take a position as president of Marshall University.
“We’re committed to attracting the best candidates," Vice President for Student Affairs Regina Hyatt, a search committee member, said. "We hope you all will use your networks to help us and make recommendations.”
The committee expects to identify potential candidates as quickly as possible and follow up with airport interviews. From the interviews, the committee will select up to four candidates to recommend to MSU President Mark Keenum.
Vice President for Research and Economic Development David Shaw, the committee's chair, said he planned to facilitate a process that would “consider those stellar individuals who will be a good fit and will provide leadership in a team-oriented manner.”
School officials expect the search to be completed by the time the spring semester ends in May.
