The Inclusive Living and Learning Taskforce at Beloit College announced #MakingEquityRealatBC, a campaign to raise the visibility of and commitment to campus-wide efforts surrounding equity, inclusivity and diversity.

The task force acknowledged the fervent requests from various campus segments shown at town hall meetings, texts, blogs, Facebook postings, twitter and email messages. It noticed the coffee break gatherings, the hallway chats, department meetings and #BlackLivesMatterBeloit events.

The task force and Beloit have listened and come up with a 90-day campaign to organize a series of events during the final week of classes and help develop lasting steps for a better, more equitable future at the college.

Events may include exhibits, demonstrations of anti-racist classroom techniques, the premiere of a relevant film from the Sundance Film Festival, activities with the greater Beloit community, and campus open houses.

Events will culminate with a “Day of Exchange” on May 5 with Dr. Benjamin Reese, vice president of the Office of Institutional Equity at Duke University. Reese has spent decades consulting with colleges, universities and corporations in the area of equity, inclusion and institutional structural change.
