University of Arkansas professor of horticulture Curt Rom was recently a featured speaker at an Ecological Farming Association conference.

Rom is part of the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences and an associate dean in the Graduate School of International Education. His presentation at the 36th Annual Ecofarm Conference in Monterey, California, was titled “On-Farm Research: A Public-Private Interface for Innovation.”

"It was an honor to be invited to participate in this vibrant conference," he said. "It was multi-generational and multi-ethnic. I sensed a strong energy and vitality among the participants and significant interest in conducting on-farm research. The conference gave the feeling there has been a rebirth of American agriculture and the food system."

The Organic Farm Research Foundation (OFRF), which has backed Rom often throughout the last 15 years, hosted his workshop. The OFRF aims to improve organic farming systems and cultivate organic research, education and federal policies.
