A research team that included Jade Simon, an adjunct instructor in the College of Arts and Sciences at Boise State University, was recently featured in the Idaho State Journal.

The story dealt with the research team’s discovery of the bones from a smaller cousin of the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The team found the bones on the border of Idaho and Wyoming in the Wayan Formation of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. These fossils will receive a permanent home in the Idaho State University Museum of Natural History.

The discoveries were of three new theropod types. These are smaller members of a carnivorous dinosaur family that included the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Simon’s fellow researchers on the project included L.J. Krumenacker, David Carricchio and Garrett Scofield.
