Ashland University recently released details about the panels and presentations slated for the Sports and Violence Conference on March 19.

The keynote speaker is Joe Ehrmann, an educator, activist, author, motivational speaker and minister who was a college All-American at Syracuse and played in the National Football League for 13 years.

“By investigating the complex relationship between sports and violence at multiple levels including athlete, fan and society and from a variety of different angles such as sociological, historical, practical and medical, the 2016 Ashland Center for Nonviolence Sports and Violence conference seeks to advance important and timely conversations in an interdisciplinary fashion that will appeal to a broad range of groups,” Dr. Craig Hovey, executive director of the Ashland Center for Nonviolence, said.

There will also be international as well as national experts discussing a wide variety of topics at the event.

The event will take place at the Troop Center. Admission, which includes a fee for lunch, is $90. Students who have valid AU IDs can purchase tickets for $75, and groups of four or more students cost $72 each. Registration forms are available at acn.nationbuilder.com or 419.289.5313.
