Warner accepts invitation to deliver commencement speech at Radford

Penelope Kyle, Radford University's first female president, said she is delighted to welcome Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) as the keynote speaker for the 2016 Spring Commencement on the Moffett Lawn in May. 

The senior senator from Virginia served as governor from 2002-06 and was a highly successful entrepreneur and investor in cellular telephones and a proponent of technology and business for 20 years before entering the public sector. . 

After earning a B.A. from George Washington College, Warner co-founded the company that became Nextel and invested in hundreds of startup technology companies, an early investor  He also earned a law degree from Harvard and has "exemplified bipartisan leadership and embraced innovation ...in his support of higher education and entrepreneurship," Kyle said. 

Radford offers 67 degree programs in 38 disciplines and over 250 clubs and organizations.
