Students entering first through 12th grade can join the Palm Beach Atlantic University Center for Integrative Science Learning for special one-week summer programs.

The weeks of June 6 and June 13, elementary students can take part in a summer camp while middle and high school students can join a Science Institute, Both programs are available on the main campus from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Week One will present the art in science for both levels, and the second week will focus on grossology for elementary students and applied science and careers for older students. The idea behind the program is to enrich children's interest in science as an approachable subject and to promote enthusiasm toward STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) learning.

Dr. Mireille Aleman, assistant professor of chemistry and director of the summer activities, said students should realize that science can be fun and has applications in daily life. Experiments and projects will include physics, chemistry, biology, marine biology, forensics and biomedical sciences for a well-rounded approach.

Extended care until 5 p.m. for first- through fifth-graders is available daily at an additional cost. Younger children also will have recreation time in the Greene Complex for Sports and Recreation every day.
