A recent agreement between the Ridge College of Intelligence Studies and Applied Sciences at Mercyhurst University and the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University will help attract more students to high-demand information management fields.

Both schools are among the top institutions to offer information and intelligence studies.

Mercyhurst President Michael Victor said that the schools' shared tradition of leading innovation and change will open a world of opportunities for undergraduates and lead to great success for all involved. Under the agreement, Mercyhurst undergraduates will be able to apply to the iSchool's "Fast Track" program and accelerate their studies toward a master of science degree in information management from Syracuse.

Students can also move ahead in the master of science degree in library and information sciences, with the option to specialize in school media. The accelerated program has students taking two graduate courses over the summer between their junior and senior years and opting into some online graduate courses. After graduation, these students could complete their masters at Syracuse in only a year of full-time attendance rather than two years.

James Breckenridge, dean of the Ridge College, says he anticipates interest from students across a number of majors, which will lead to greater success for the partnership and collaboration.
