In the latest release of rankings by U.S. News & World Report's "Best Graduate Schools," several programs at the University of Massachusetts Amherst made the grade.

Among these are the graduate programs for education, nursing, engineering, computer science, fine arts, management, public health, and public policy.

These rankings are national, pitting university programs against all such programs across the country. The College of Education, for example, was ranked 42nd out of 255 schools, with the Isenberg School of Management coming in 75th out of 379 business schools. Many of the programs at UMass Amherst were also listed for the first time in the annual report that was released this month, such as the College of Nursing's online doctor of nursing practice and the program in public policy and administration.

Some schools are not ranked every year, but these programs were listed again for reiteration, including the School of Public Health and Health Sciences and the College of Information and Computer Sciences (both ranked 25th). One of the biggest notations for the University of Massachusetts Amherst is the part-time MBA program that is ranked 16th nationally.

Rankings come from surveys of administrators from more than 1,900 programs as well as over 18,400 academics and professionals.
