Award-winning author Parkison to visit Cameron

Author Aimee Parkison, a winner of the Starcherone Prize for innovative fiction, will visit Cameron University during the Department of English and Foreign Languages' visiting writers series tonight at 7 in the CETES Conference Center.

Currently funded by a fellowship on behalf of the American Antiquarian Society, Parkison is working on a historical novel. 

She is an assistant professor of fiction writing at Oklahoma State University and previously taught at Cornell University and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she served there as coordinator of creative writing.

Parkison has also been a visiting faculty member for the International Creative Writing Summer School in Athens, Greece.

She has penned a number of books, including "Woman with the Dark Horses," The Innocent Party," and "The Petals of Your Eyes." She has won a number of prizes for her writing, including the Kurt Vonnegut Fiction Prize, Writes at Work Fellowship, the Puffin Foundation Grant, the Hearst Fellowship and more.

Parkison's work has also appeared in many literary magazines, such as Five Points, The Literary Review, North American Review and the Santa Monica Review, to name just a few.

The event at Cameron University is free and open to the public.
