During a recent event at Simpson University, Dr. Betty Dean was recognized for her work at, and contributions to, the university, as the nursing school was named in honor of her.
Dean has been a member of the board of trustees for nine years; she also enjoyed her own success in nursing. Dean served at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California, where she worked in administration, and also served as the president of Mission Community College in Santa Clara.
The ceremony honoring Dean was held on March 18 and was attended by approximately 70 people, as the nursing center became the Betty M. Dean School of Nursing.
Dean thanked the school for the recognition, expressing her regard for those with whom she has worked.
“Through the years, I’ve had an incredible privilege to work with people who are highly skilled, competent and have willing hearts to serve,” she said.
The vice chair of the board of trustees, Dr. Jo Anne Cripe, praised Dean for her good character.
“We are confident that God will do great things over many generations as a result of the work of the Betty M. Dean School of Nursing,” she said.
