St. Norbert women's track team wins league title

With a powerful performance at Punches Track and Field Complex last week, the St. Norbert College women’s track and field team captured its first Wisconsin Private College Championship in 27 years.

The Green Knights dominated the meet, scoring 198.5 points, over 50 points more than second-place Carthage College (147).

Brittany Kozlowski broke a 24-year meet record in the 400-meter dash, winning the event with a time of 58.19 seconds

In the 800, Clarissa Jauregui and Taylor Domro finished first and second, respectively. Jauregui led the pack at 2:17.80, while her teammate finished with a time of 2:20.22.

The Green Knights also set the pace in the 10,000, as Erin Artz and Tori Nelsen finished in the top two spots. Artz won the race with a time of 36:23.81, with Nelsen coming in slightly behind her at 39:47.09.

Both St. Norbert relay teams were champions, winning the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter events. The 4x100 squad of Halie Ferry, Liz LeCaptain, Kyra Vanden Heuvel and Angel Hon scored a top time of 50.54 seconds. The 4x400 team of Sarah Duff, Kozlowski, Haley Joosten and Jauregui finished in 4:03.97.

LeCaptain also finished second in the 100-meter dash (12.74 seconds), and third in the long jump at 16 feet 7 inches.

The Green Knights also fared well in field events. Samantha Morateck won the high jump with a top height of 5 feet 5 inches, with teammate Nicole Vanderlin coming in third 5 feet 1 inch. Vanden Heuvel won the triple jump with a distance of 35 feet, 10¾ inches.
