Xcel Energy Foundation, Colorado Rockies support CSM Foundation

The Xcel Energy Foundation and the Colorado Rockies will team up this year to support the Colorado School of Mines, with each home run hit by the Colorado Rockies earning the school $200 from the foundation, up to $20,000.

The school, which was recently named the Colorado Rockies official 2016 nonprofit partner, will see the funding go to its Colorado School of Mines Foundation that helps students learn and innovate on global earth, energy and environmental challenges.

Toward the end of the season, in September, Xcel Energy and Colorado School of Mines representatives will take the field at one of the team’s last home games for a check handover.

“The Xcel Energy Foundation has supported the Multicultural Engineering Program at Mines over the last five years and wants to recognize their important work,” Xcel Energy Senior Foundation Representative Kynnie Martin said. “Having met the most recent class, it is clear that every student in the program appreciates the opportunity, and takes advantage of everything the program and staff have to offer.”
