The University of New Orleans announced May 4 that the College of Business Administration has received a donation of $60,000 from Harold Schroeder and the estate of Marlene Schroeder.

According to the announcement, both Harold and Marlene graduated from UNO with accounting degrees. Ronald Schroeder, Harold's father, taught marketing and statistics at the university.

“We are very grateful for the Schroeder family endowment, which will provide valuable scholarship assistance for future accounting students,” Philip Harmelink, chair of the accounting department, said.

This donation will go toward supporting scholarships for students in the university’s accounting program.

“UNO has generated the highest return of any investment I've ever made and continues to pay dividends decades after graduating," Harold Schroeder said. "Our family has strong ties to UNO and New Orleans, and we are pleased to begin giving back.”

Harold has worked in financial reporting and investing for 35 years and serves as a board member with the Financial Accounting Standards Board.
