Simpson University softball coach Wayne Stower recently won the California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac) Coach of the Year distinction for the third consecutive year, and the fifth time total, after leading the school to its first 40-win season.

“Our team played extremely well as a team this season, and everyone made great contributions to our outstanding outcome,” Stower said. “Our players and coaches are excited to be in the Simpson University record book with 40 wins.”

Stower has coached the Red Hawks since 2008. This year saw the team win its sixth Cal Pac title in seven years, with six Simpson players recognized for their efforts this season in categories like Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Pitcher of the Year. Stower’s award was earned through a voting process that included voting by his coaching peers in the Cal Pac conference.

The teamwill host the NAIA Softball National Championship opening round at Simpson Softball Field from May 16-18.
