Butler University international business and marketing major Siena Amodeo has been selected to participate in the Fulbright Summer Institute Program.

She will study with the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London from July 4-22.

“I’m an international business and marketing major, and this is not something a lot of business majors get to do,” Amodeo said. “A lot of the students participating in this are not business majors, so I think I’ll bring a unique perspective to the classroom, and I hope to be influenced by the students who are with me as well.”

In addition to studying at the University of London, Amodeo will see London, Stonehenge, Oxford University and Bath.

The Fulbright Summer participants are selected by the U.S.-U.K. Fulbright Commission after an extensive application and interview process. The commission focuses on the academic prowess, extracurricular and community activities of potential candidates. The commission also places importance on the student’s potential to be able to bring something back to their community and potential as a student ambassador.

“It will be a very different experience than what I have in the United States,” Amodeo said. “Usually, we look at how the United States is related to other countries. In this program, I will be focusing on how non-western nations view the world.”
