Hammond named university libraries and archives dean

Michelle Hammond was named university libraries and archives dean at Emporia State on Friday.

Hammond, who holds a doctorate in ethnomusicology from the University of Pittsburgh, has most recently been associate director at Morgan State University in Baltimore. 

“It is an incredibly exciting time at Emporia State University and I am thrilled and honored to have been selected as the new University Libraries and Archives dean,” Hammond said. “I look forward to working with both the library and executive teams to continue building on the great programs that are currently in place. 

She will assume her new position on Aug. 8.
