Blinn College trustees unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding to join the RELLIS Campus in the Texas A&M University system.

Through this agreement, the college will build one research facility at the RELLIS campus, which is being designed as a research and development campus to allow companies and institutions to facilitate research in multiple areas with partnerships with Texas A&M.

This campus will also include the Gateway Education Center, which will serve as space for member institutions of the university system to offer courses to their respective students.

“Blinn College’s participation is a welcome component to this new, transformative education model we call RELLIS,” Texas A&M Chancellor John Sharp said. “We are excited to work with Blinn to ensure that high-achieving students across the state have additional pathways to their educational and career goals.”

Through this campus, Blinn students will also have the ability to transfer to Texas A&M University system institutions. It will also collaborative possibilities with resident companies that hold space at the campus.

“The RELLIS Campus places the Texas A&M System and the Blinn College District at the forefront of innovative partnerships between research universities and community colleges,” Blinn College Board President David Sommer said. “It is an honor to partner with one of the nation’s top university systems to develop new educational opportunities for our students.”
