Lamar University's Dishman Art Museum is featuring graphic design work from local artists and companies through July 31.

“Export: Graphic Design in Southeast Texas” features work from Americom Marketing, Abelmanart.com, Larue Art +Copy, the Texas Beard Company among others.

“Southeast Texans are quite familiar with the export process due to our region’s vast industries that deliver via all modes of transportation,” assistant professor of graphic design and show curator Sherry Freyermuth said. “Graphic design is no different in that it transmits ideas across all varieties of media. My goal in curating this show is to educate the community about the wide range of visual communication that falls under the term ‘graphic design.’ The work on display reflects the unique perspectives of the top talent in our region.”

Also on display is the visual history of Lamar University, featuring the current logo design that was created by Lamar University alumnus Michael Lee, who owns Michael Lee Advertising & Design.

The university has used this logo for approximately 20 years.

A reception with the artists will take place at the museum on June 17 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The Dishman Art Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
