Following an agreement between the Associated Colleges of Illinois (ACI) and North Central College, the Center for Success in High-Need Schools will move to North Central College, where it will continue its work to bring qualified teachers to low-income students.

“North Central College has always been intimately involved in the Center’s important work,” North Central College Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Abiódún Gòkè-Pariolá said. “We are pleased to welcome the Center to our campus and look forward to continuing its tradition of collaborative engagement of member schools in the latest and best practices for preparing teachers and school leaders for transformational work in high-need schools.”

The center works with member colleges to help them recruit, prepare and retain educators for schools serving the state’s low-income and minority students, providing talented and diverse university students with the opportunity to help those students close the achievement gap between themselves and more affluent students. The center endeavors to find teachers for students from pre-kindergarten through to 12th grade.

“North Central College has a long history of successful collaboration and working in high-need schools, making it a perfect fit for the highly successful Center,” ACI Executive Director Mick Weltman said.
