The University of Arkansas recently launched Campaign Arkansas, a multi-year fundraising campaign that the school hopes to translate into $1 billion of funding for its academic mission and other priority areas.

“Our commitment to Campaign Arkansas is critical to the future of the University of Arkansas and our efforts to keep tuition affordable while enhancing academic opportunities for our faculty and students,” Chancellor Joe Steinmetz said. “Without increases in state funding, private fundraising is the mechanism that allows us to support student scholarships, research and innovation, study abroad opportunities, the creation of new interdisciplinary programs and the renovation of our existing facilities.”

One key priority for the university is providing more scholarships for Arkansans. The school also hopes to fund fellowships, endowed chairs, capital project and interdisciplinary academic programs, among other measures designed to ensure that the school continues to offer a high level academic experience. Campaign Arkansas follows the Campaign for the Twenty-First Century, a previous fundraising effort.

“Clearly, the impact of our previous campaign is still being felt on our campus today,” interim Vice Chancellor for University Advancement Mark Power said. “We hope to build upon that foundation with Campaign Arkansas. We believe our alumni and friends are excited about the opportunity to support the programs and needs that mean the most to them while taking the university to new heights.”
