Ashland University has set a record with its fall 2016 retention mark for its freshman-to-sophomore class at 80 percent.

Ashland Provost Eun-Woo Chang gives credit to the university’s hard-working staff and faculty.

“This is truly a significant achievement for our University, and it shows that we are on the right path toward supporting our students,” Chang said. “I am so proud of and grateful for every person who works daily to create such a positive learning environment that clearly inspires the personal growth of our students.”

The 80 percent rate includes first-time, full-time freshmen who enrolled in the fall of last year.

“Having achieved an 80 percent retention rate is a significant achievement for Ashland University,” Ashland Center for Academic Support Director Ronald Mickler said. “This benchmark is a clear indicator that the coordination and communication between the faculty, the Center for Academic Support and the Ashland University community as a whole are having a positive impact on the students' experience. By working together for the betterment of the student and promoting Ashland University in a positive manner, our retention rates will only continue to be on the rise.”
