The University of New Orleans recently announced the launch of
an initiative named UNO25 that was put into place to identify, recognize
and celebrate 25 businesses owned or run by alumni that have an impact in
the business community.
The inaugural group of businesses honored by the UNO25 initiative will be announced in 2017.
“We know that the University of New Orleans has a powerful
and wide-reaching influence on the greater New Orleans region,” UNO President John Nicklow said. “Our alumni are entrepreneurs, innovators and respected
leaders in numerous fields. UNO25 will allow the university to showcase the
contributions of our alumni and the real impact that they are making in the
lives of so many in the region. All of our graduates should take pride in the
successes of their fellow alumni.”
The university will accept nominations and
applications from Feb. 1 to May 31, 2017. Selected businesses will be
honored at a dinner next October.
UNO recently released an economic impact study stating that
the university has approximately 42,000 alumni in the eight-parish region or
metropolitan New Orleans, where they had a $470 million impact on the economy.
