Concordia University Texas recently named Dr. Kristi Kirk as the new provost.

Kirk has been a part of the Concordia community for more than 20 years, where she earned her bachelor's degree in history. She began her career at Concordia as a student worker in the Office of Admission, years prior, when she was a freshman at the institution. She has since then worked in the areas of Student Services, Financial Aid, Athletics and Enrollment.

In her new role, Kirk will collaborate with the president, assisting in leadership and serving as the chief academic officer. She already is involved in the leadership team for Developing Christian Leaders and has been able to be a part of the History program, as an educator, as well as involvement in the courses of Baseball & American Culture, The American West and Life & Leadership.

Kirk's personal education continued after her bachelor's at Concordia, with a master's degree from the University of Texas at Austin in American Civilization, and a Ph.D. from the Capella University in Leadership in Higher Education.

Dr. Don Christian, president and CEO at Concordia, recently shared his response to Kirk's new position, as well.

"She has a comprehensive understanding of Concordia and of higher education in general," he said. "I believe she will approach this transition with an eye on our current strategic initiatives and in a manner that supports our mission, vision and values."
