In partnership with Easter Seals East Texas' Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) program, Blinn College recently hosted a Christmas party for young children in the Blinn College-Bryan Campus Student Center.

“We get as much out of this party as the children do, if not more,” Child Development Program Coordinator Amy Jones said. “Most of these students will be working with children and their families in various settings, and the ECI Christmas Party allows them to apply concepts they’ve learned in the classroom.”

ECI offers support for infants and toddlers through age 3 with disabilities or developmental delays and their families.

Blinn College has partnered with ECI for the past six years to run Christmas parties for the children -- with more than 120 children enjoying pizza, treats and Christmas-themed crafts under the supervision of 70 Child Development Program students.

The children also received presents donated by Blinn students, faculty and staff members, and the greater Brazos Valley community.

“This collaboration has been just amazing for both ECI and Blinn College,” ECI Director Amy Tutoki said. “Not only does it give students experience working with children with disabilities or developmental delays, it gives families the opportunity to relax and have a good time.”
