Oxford, the hometown of Miami University's main campus, was recently named "Best College Town" nationwide by WalletHub and cited by Forbes.
Oxford is classified as a small city, according the classification used by Forbes and WalletHub, which qualified any cities with fewer than 125,000 people; Oxford has fewer than 8,000 full-time residents
The ranking was made up of 26 criteria and granted Oxford a final score of 71.1. Points were given based on a combination of social factors and the population between 18 and 35 years old, nightlife options, living costs, education costs, housing, academic and economic opportunities, entrepreneurial activity and job growth.
For the study, researchers compared 415 U.S. cities before naming Oxford the top, but this was not the first time that Oxford has been graced with this honor.
In December 2014, Oxford was named the Best College Town by WalletHub; it has been also listed as the town with the least "Brain Drain," a recognition regarding the population possessing bachelor's degrees or higher.
WalletHub is a finance website which has existed since August 2013.
