Evansville department receives 7-year accreditation

The University of Evansville’s School of Education recently earned seven-year accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Education Preparation.

Following what the university described as an “intensive period of self-study” that began in 2013, the school will not need another accreditation review until 2023.

The accreditation team evaluated the school’s ability to meet certain standards, including content and pedagogical knowledge; clinical partnerships and practice; candidate quality, recruitment and selectivity; program impact; and provider quality assurance and continuous improvement.

“The accrediting team noted that we had strong, sincere relationships with our school partners,” Sharon Gieselmann, chair of the Department of Education, said. “We are fortunate to have excellent school partners who mentor UE students during school placements beginning their freshman year. This experience allows students to apply what they are learning in university coursework in a real world classroom setting. This partnership helps us provide quality candidates who are prepared to teach in K-12 schools."
