University of Mary wins award for respiratory care education

The University of Mary's Will Beachey has been awarded the American Association for Respiratory Care's (AARC) Educator of the Year award.

Beachey received the award at a recent AARC meeting in Tampa, Florida.

Beachey, a former director of CHI St. Alexius Health and University of Mary’s Respiratory Therapy Program, is working on the fourth edition of the textbook University of Mary respiratory students use. Throughout his career, his contributions to his field have also earned him a fellowship with the American Association for Respiratory Care and a Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care award. Aside from textbook writing, he still teaches at University of Mary.

The AARC is a professional association that promotes the advancement of respiratory care and represents the interests of everyone involved in the care process, including patients, practitioners and the public. The AARC's Educator of the Year award is given to a peer-nominated educator in the field of respiratory care. 

University of Mary is a Catholic school in Bismarck, North Dakota, that was founded in 1959 by a Benedictine monastery.
