Grinnell College announced Saturday that alumna Lilianna Bagnoli will travel to India on an American India Foundation William J. Clinton Fellowship for Service.
Bagnoli and 34 other fellows will spend 10 months in India working alongside young professionals, nongovernmental organizations and social enterprises.
A recent graduate, Bagnoli has already made a serious commitment to understanding the nuances of Indian business. She spent part of last year studying Hindi in India and previously completed an internship on the corporate social responsibility team of Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd. in Mumbai.
Bagnoli has also worked for the anti-trafficking organization Challenging Heights in Ghana and presented her research into informal economies at this year's Grinnell College Student Research Symposium. Bagnoli told school officials she hopes to continue working with informal economies and development in South Asia after the fellowship.
Grinnell College is a private liberal arts and sciences college of 1,600 students in Grinnell, Iowa.
