Tiffin University recently sent a team to meet with the U.S. Coast Guard Research and Development Center to explore potential research opportunities.

During the meeting, held in early December in New London, Connecticut, the Tiffin team was briefed on a variety of project options. Some dealt with maritime security issues, while others focused on maritime cyber threats. Afterwards, the team was given a tour of the 3rd Deck Project Displays.

The team also received detailed explanations on prior research and development efforts. At the meeting’s conclusion, the groups discussed future collaboration and ideas about student internships.

“In order to expand their knowledge,” Tiffin President Curtis Charles said, “I wanted our faculty to visit with scientist and engineers from the nation’s engine of innovation, to inform the design of Tiffin University's School of [Science, Technology, Engineering and Math] Security Studies Cyber Intelligence and Data Analytics."

The Coast Guard Research and Development Center Commanding Officer Capt. Dennis Evans gave Coast Guard Challenge Coins to members of the Tiffin team in honor of the site visit.
