Bismarck, North Dakota’s University of Mary is partnering with EK Communications to launch the new BEK Broadcasting Network that will produce and distribute entertainment content for the local market.
The private Catholic school is nearly finished with construction of a new complex of broadcasting studios on the campus. Those studios will deliver content for two new television channels – BEK Prime and BEK 247. Work on the content and broadcasting work will be a joint effort between BEK staff and broadcasting students from the University of Mary. Students will have access to cutting-edge, high-definition broadcasting equipment, as well as a wealth of practical experience in producing content for television.
“We’re excited for our current communication students and those that will be attending Mary in the future to experience this innovative technology as they bring the new BEK Broadcasting Network programming into the homes of thousands of North Dakota residents,” Marek Dojs, assistant professor of communications in the School of Arts and Sciences, said. “Our students will start getting their hands-on experience in the coming weeks as the studios come to a completion.”
The television channels will produce content aimed specifically at the North Dakota market and will vary in genre to provide engaging viewing options for all segments in the region.
