Kentucky accepts applications for women's leadership program

The University of Kentucky is accepting applications for its 2016 Women’s Executive Leadership Development Program.

The program is designed to give women the skills and capabilities to earn high-level academic leadership positions and address the under-representation of women in those types of positions.

The eight-month program is set to run from May to December and involve 20-25 faculty and staff. Hollie Swanson, a professor of pharmacology and nutritional sciences in the College of Medicine, will lead the program, with a diverse group of faculty and staff on the Advisory and Selection Committees to help in developing the program, observing its effectiveness and selecting participants.

Only mid-to-senior level faculty (associate or professor) and staff in executive, director and managerial positions should apply. Applicants must also have demonstrated leadership experience through serving in positions like director of undergraduate or graduate studies, department chair, program or division director, center director, assistant or associate dean or assistant provost.

Applications are due by Jan. 4,, and selections will be announced in early February.
