Temple College will host exhibit of Harmons' works

Brownwood artists David and Susan Harmon will display their works in the gallery of the Temple College Visual Arts complex in an exhibition beginning Jan. 30.

David Harmon, chair of the art department at Howard Payne University in Brownwood and adjunct art instructor at Central Texas College in Killeen, works in acrylics. His new series, “Omnis,” presents a collection of small acrylic paintings on Masonite boards. Using this method, unpredictable forms emerge within continuous patterned brushwork.

Susan Harmon, also a teacher at both Central Texas College and Howard Payne University, paints abstract works on large canvases. She calls them a “visual collection of emotion," and uses literature about suffering – mental illness, drug addiction, sex trafficking and more as a muse for her work.

An opening reception for the exhibit will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 30. At this reception, both artists will talk about their work and what inspires them. The exhibit will stay on display through April 7.

The Temple College Visual Arts Complex at 2105 South Fifth St. in Temple, Texas, holds gallery hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
