Arkansas Tech among finalists for NCAA Division II Award of Excellence

Arkansas Tech University will represent the Great American Conference as a finalist for the 2016 NCAA Division II Award of Excellence.

The award recognizes events and activities that show one of the six NCAA Division II attributes – learning, balance, resourcefulness, sportsmanship, passion and service.

Arkansas Tech was selected as one of the 22 institutions and three conferences picked as finalists from among an estimated 300 that hold membership in NCAA Division II.

“I am extremely proud of our athletes and coaches in receiving this honor,” Director of Athletics Steve Mullins said. “The Division II Award for Excellence is a great achievement for our programs for their continued involvement in our community.”

This is the third consecutive year that Arkansas Tech has been the Great American Conference selection, a feat it earned in recognition of its “Fight On Against Childhood Hunger” campaign. This initiative centers on providing nutrition for youth in the Arkansas River Valley.

The national award winner will receive $1,500 and a nationally televised football or basketball game next season.
