Due to increasing demand, Blinn College is offering fire science courses on its Brenham campus in addition to its program already under way at the school's Bryan campus.
The school's Fire Science Program was developed as an advanced degree in fire protection. The program is offered in partnership with the Texas Engineering Extension Service, the nation's most comprehensive firefighter training and emergency services instruction offered on a collegiate level. Blinn fire science students participate in rigorous classroom instruction in fire and life safety, then receive hands-on training at Brayton Fire Training Field in College Station.
Beginning with the spring semester, Blinn will offer Firefighter Health and Safety, a three credit-hour course that teaches students about life safety initiatives available to firefighters. The course is part of a 60 credit-hour Fire Science Technology Associate of Applied Sciences degree.
Blinn plans to expand its Brenham campus offerings in upcoming semesters.
