The University of Arkansas has appointed David Bruce its deputy chief information officer and an associate chief information officer (CIO) for information technology (IT) enterprise infrastructure systems.
Bruce has held numerous positions with the university over the past 15 years including network engineer, director of campus networks and most recently associate CIO for campus networks.
"Serving as deputy CIO is a great privilege," Bruce said. "I am passionate about higher education, and I am excited about this opportunity to make an impact at the University of Arkansas."
In his new role, Bruce will be in charge of making decisions when the CIO isn't present and will be tasked with overseeing key components of the enterprise infrastructure. He will work with technology professionals across campus to enhance the university's IT offerings.
"I am truly pleased and excited that David has agreed to serve as my deputy CIO," University of Arkansas CIO Chris McCoy said. "I set a high bar, and David demonstrated that his passion and energy align well with the direction I am setting for Campus IT. He has distinguished himself with his ability to build high-performing teams, drive projects to completion and build momentum for IT solutions across the university."
Bruce graduated from the University of Arkansas with a political science degree.
