More than 29,500 students applied for admission to Miami University during the most recent application cycle, a record figure that represents an 8.8 percent increase over application volumes from the previous year.
Applications came from nearly 2,900 high schools in 49 states.
“Miami has long been a choice for the nation’s top students, and we’re honored that this year even more high-achieving, diverse students are seeing us as a competitive option for their college experience,” Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management and Director of Admission Susan Schaurer said.
More than 16,000 students from next year's incoming class who applied before the school's Dec. 1 Early Action deadline have already been admitted. Of those students, the middle 50 percent boast GPAs between 3.64 and 4.12.
“We are proud to be a destination for high-powered students who view Miami as one of the best places to engage with nationally-recognized faculty who are dedicated to undergraduate student success," Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success Michael Kabbaz said. "Simply put, prospective students and parents know a Miami degree is a path to a great career or a top-tier graduate school."
School officials said that of the students already admitted, and others who applied by the regular deadline Feb. 1, approximately 3,650 will be allowed to enroll.
