Miami University in Oxford recently received the state’s approval for the Miami University Tuition Promise, which locks down tuition prices for incoming students.
Beginning with this fall semester, incoming Miami University students will be guaranteed the same tuition costs that they begin school with throughout their entire education.
That means those students and their families will now know how much four years of tuition, supplies, room and board will cost with more certainty. This comes as there have been growing calls across the nation’s academic community to combat rising tuition costs that affect students.
“We support efforts to keep the costs of higher education contained for our students, and Miami University’s Tuition Promise is a good example of that,” Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor John Carey said. “Having those costs frozen over four years can help students and their families better plan for their postsecondary education.”
Miami University President David Hodge said the approved tuition freeze will be of great benefit to students and families.
“We appreciate the state supporting Miami in being responsive to families with this plan,” Hodge said. “Stable costs also ensure that scholarships and financial aid will retain their value over a student’s four-year college period.”
Miami University is a public university in Oxford, Ohio.
