In an upcoming art display, Berry College has chosen to feature a unique art form, crafted in this case by artist Tommye McClure Scanlin.
Scanlin, a professor at the University of North Georgia, crafts
color-filled, handwoven tapestries. The method she is currently using has been her preference since 1988, and the title of her collection is "Time Woven." It will be featured at the Moon Gallery of Berry College from Monday through April 8.
So far, her tapestries have been shown at the 2015 Instructor Exhibition at Arrowmont School of Crafts; Velocity of Textiles at Georgia State University; and in Duluth, Georgia's Intertwined: Contemporary Southeastern Fiber Art, housed at the Hudgens Center for the Arts.
Hours of the free exhibit, which is open to the public, are weekdays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
