The latest graduate school rankings from U.S. News and World Report were released this month, with two of the programs at the University of New Orleans making the grade.

Both the Master of Public Administration program and the graduate program in psychology were given nods.

These national rankings are based on results obtained from peer assessment surveys of deans, directors and department chairs. For example, the results for psychology degrees were taken from academics at 246 institutes offering a doctoral degree in the field.

Aside from UNO, the only other Louisiana school to receive a ranking for its public administration program was Louisiana State University. In addition, LSU and Tulane University were the only other universities in the state to receive acknowledgement for their graduate programs in psychology.

The University of New Orleans is unique among Louisiana schools, being the only public urban research university in the state. The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education determined this year that UNO would retain its status as a doctoral university with higher education, making it one of just four universities in Louisiana with the distinction of being classified in the top two tiers.
