Stephen Johnston, cofounder of Aging 2.0, is a nationally acclaimed expert for startups that provide senior services who was scheduled to present a talk at the University of Rhode Island this week.
Approximately 10,000 U.S. residents turn 65 each day. This rise in the aging population means that there is a higher demand than ever for services and products that help elderly adults.
Johnston seeks to resolve this demand with his San Francisco-based startups. His designs improve elderly lives by uniting technology, business and designers within the senior care industry.
Johnston has also published "Growth Champions," a book covering sustainable corporate growth. He is the cofounder of the Innovation Leaders Fund, as well.
The talk, titled “Innovative Thinking: The Application of Technology to Aging,” was available to anyone who wishes to attend, whether students or local community members. The talk began at 7 p.m. on the Kingston campus inside Edwards Hall, 64 Upper College Road, with a reception at 6 p.m.
“We are thrilled to bring the aging experience to our campus community and hope these events will spark the interprofessional collaborations so essential to improving the quality of life for all of us as we age,” Christine Ferrone, program manager of the Rhode Island Geriatric Center, said. “We welcome everyone to attend.’’
