Simpson University recently announced that sophomore Julianna Gilson has received a pre-med fellowship through the Atlantis Project to study in Portugal.

"International experience is almost always a huge growth opportunity for undergraduates, and for Julianna to be able to pair that with her need to fulfill the shadowing requirement is fantastic,”  Trent Smith, associate professor of biology, said.

During the five-week program, Gilson will work 20-plus hours a week in a hospital setting observing doctors from multiple specialties.

“My primary objective will be to obtain shadow hours and general exposure the medical environment on a very real level,” she said.
